Start with the occupied interval
A customer sees a starting time and a service duration. An operator has a longer question: what must remain unavailable before, during and after that visit? Preparation, the appointment itself and reset can occupy different people or assets. Write those intervals before choosing software. This is a planning method, not a description of every scheduling product. If a room needs cleaning after a visit, an apparently empty employee calendar must not reopen it too early.
Find the scarce component
Imagine three qualified staff members, two usable rooms and one specialist machine. For a service requiring one of each throughout the same interval, the machine permits only one simultaneous appointment. Adding another calendar does not remove that constraint. A service that needs no machine has a different limit. Count usable resources for the particular service, not everything the business owns. Broken equipment and an unavailable specialist do not belong in the available total.
Keep seats separate from bookings
One group booking might reserve one room but include several people. Alternatively each attendee might require a seat or piece of equipment. Those are different consumption rules. Trafft documents allocation by booking or person; the appropriate choice depends on the actual service. Our worksheet models identical one-person appointments only. Do not use its result as a group-class limit or assume software will infer the intended consumption from the service name.
Turn a definition into a test
Describe a collision that must be prevented: two customers selecting the last machine at the same time, or a class exceeding usable seats. Then describe a booking that should remain possible, such as another unrelated service in a separate room. Both tests matter. A configuration that prevents every booking is not correct merely because nothing overlaps. Begin with requirements, then use the worksheet to expose the binding constraint before evaluating a product.
